AIPCS believes strongly that the focus of the summer program at Johns Hopkins
University's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) meshes perfectly with AIPCS's own
philosophy: rigorous academics.

Since 2002, AIPCS has encouraged its most ambitious, hard-working students to
participate in the CTY program.

In order to gain admission to the program, students must take the SAT beginning in the
7th grade and score high enough to meet CTY's challenging standards.

This year, 44 students from AIPCS (23%) qualified for the program, more students than
from the rest of Oakland combined. This percentage represents the highest participation
rate of any school in the United States.
